What can I tell you About Me? Well, life was going along pretty smooth until I was diagnosed with breast cancer in April of 2015. Let me just tell you that this was not what I had planned for my upcoming summer! Very quickly, I was ushered into the world of cancer, and I was about to get educated!
In an epiphany moment, I learned that this cancer was not hormonal but environmental. I had to have that one explained to me and I didn’t like what I was told!
As the doctor spoke, I realized that this cancer came into my body because of something I had eaten, drank, breathed – SOMETHING!
So…for the first three weeks after my diagnosis, I had the most difficult time putting ANYTHING into my mouth at all! Not the healthiest way to lose weight for sure, and not my intention anyway!
As I started to absorb the shock I realized that I had exactly two choices. I could either give up and not even try to fight this OR I could fight this and THRIVE…not JUST survive!
I want to help you do the same! Please realize that every cancer is NOT the same so our journeys will not be either, but I promise you that our God is ALWAYS the same and He will be there for you just as He has been and still is for me.
I hope you will hear my heart and I also hope you will identify somehow. Above ALL, I hope that you will come to know that God is very near. He loves you and He cares for you. He is the GREAT Physician and He is IN CONTROL!
The reason I’m here is because I learned very quickly that there are a lot of people with cancer, but NOT a lot of people who will TALK about it. I’m here to talk about it! And of course, I want YOU to talk about it with me. Let’s share our thoughts, our feelings, and our experiences together. I don’t claim to have all the answers…just the ones that I searched out! And I want to share with you what I’ve learned.
If you are a cancer survivor (which I learned begins at the moment you start treatment) then I’m very glad you’re here.
I look forward to interacting with you (I will answer every legitimate e-mail I receive) and hearing YOUR cancer story.
Finally, my hope for you is that as you join my community, you too will learn to THRIVE, not JUST survive!
A Little About Me
There’s really nothing special about me, but let me tell you just a bit.
God blessed me with a very supportive husband. We have been married 40 years and are looking forward to many more. Joe has been my rock throughout my treatments and surgeries.
God gave us two daughters, Amber and April. My daughters each married wonderful men and they have given me 13 grandchildren! I’m a very busy grandma and I love to spend as much time with each of them as I can.
I am very active in my church and community and am an ambassador for my community. I work more hours than I care to admit for less money that I should!
Loving God and trying to honor Him in what I do is my ultimate goal. That’s why I write this blog. It’s a way that I can bring Him glory and point others to Him. Knowing how you can have a relationship with Him is not hard and I would be so honored to share that with you. If you already know Him then you really can understand when I say how He gave me peace through the entire journey – and continues to do so.
I thank God for my cancer. Not because I love cancer, but because I love what He has done and continues to do in my life because of this experience.
Please, drop me an e-mail if you have questions and I promise I’ll do what I can to help. If you have an encouraging story to share, I’d really love to hear from you. You could be our next feature in our Thriver’s Corner!
Thanks for stopping by! Here’s to Thriving and Not Just Surviving!
